Don Campbell
Sports: Too many, running, biking, swimming, climbing/rapelling, down hill &
country skiiing, surfing and golf
DOB: 10/12/52
Occupation: Landscape Architect (my own business for 25 years)
Where I live and play: Central Phoenix, 7th Ave & Dunlap
Marital status: Married to Deby for 35 years
Kids: Derek 28 and Doug 26
Animals: Oliver the Corgy dog
Favorite workout route: I moved to be close to the canal and this takes me east
to Scottsdale or west to Peoria and beyond
Favorite race: St George Marathon, San Diego International Triathlon; and just for
the fun of it the New York Marathon
Ideal weekend: A long run on the beach (friday), with a long swim (sat) and then a bike
ride inland (sunday--not too many hills). after each workout find some place in the shade
to read a book or watch some kind of game
Proudest moment: Life would be when our kids were born. sports is when my team won the state championship for cross country back in the 60's
Role model and why: Frank Shorter, because of the way he ran and trained for the
marathon. he inspired me to work harder and to keep at it. i have met him twice and he is
very personable. great to talk to.
Best training tip: Follow the schedule and know that the hardest part is not the race. it's
getting up and putting the training in each and every day. the race is the fun part and if you have followed the schedule you will do well
Favorite pre-workout/race meal: english muffin with PB and J
Sport I'd most like to try: adventure racing (this fall)
When I'm not training I'm working or enjoying a good book
