Favorite workout route: BIKE:  Congress to Yarnell and back RUN:  Estrella competitive track

Favorite race:  Escape from Alcatraz.  Nothing easy about that race

Role model and why: Lance Armstrong.  The best endurance athlete ever.  His drive and determination are unequaled

Proudest moment: In athletics, when I qualified for Kona at IMAZ in 2006

Best Training Tip:  Wean yourself off caffeine before an Ironman race, then take a couple
of Excedrin 1/3 or 1/2 way through the marathon

Gear I can't live without: my favorite tri shorts

Favorite pre-workout/race meal: Pre-race; Boost Plus (2 bottles before an Ironman)

Sport I'd most like to try:  Adventure racing

When I'm not training:  I'm working at the hospital or re-writing a lab book that I publish
